Horse Shoe Bend
Horseshoe Bend is a world-renowned geological marvel located 5 miles south of Page, Arizona. Carved by the Colorado River over millions of years, this 270-degree "incised meander" features emerald-green waters that curve dramatically around a massive sandstone tower.
It took me 3 years to finally get the shot of Horseshoe Bend. The first year, I did not have my camera. The second year, I had a 50mm f/1.8 lens, which meant I could not fit the scene into a single frame. The third time, I finally brought the right wide-angle lens and was able to capture the image I had been waiting for. If you did not know Horseshoe Bend was there, you would easily drive right past it. The walk toward the overlook is unassuming, with nothing but desert stretching in every direction. Then you reach the rim, and the bend is suddenly revealed in full view, bold and sweeping, and your mouth instinctively falls open in awe.
